SBDI governing bodies

How the Society is organized, under the Bylaws approved in August 2026.

  1. Bylaws, Article 11

    General Assembly

    The Society's highest decision-making body, sovereign in its decisions.

    Members in good standing; it may meet in person, remotely or in hybrid format.

  2. Bylaws, Articles 14 and 15

    Board

    Carries out the decisions of the General Assembly and the Scientific Council, plans the Society's activities, decides on membership admissions and organizes elections.

    President, Vice-President, Administrative Director and Financial Director, elected every three years.

  3. Bylaws, Article 21

    Communication Coordination

    Responsible for internal and external institutional communication: tone of voice, channels and editorial coordination.

    A coordinator appointed by the Board from among the members and confirmed by the General Assembly.

  4. Bylaws, Article 22

    Advisory Council

    Strategic advice to the Board, offering historical perspective and institutional continuity.

    Founding members who express interest, without a fixed term; it may include members who have served on the Board.

  5. Bylaws, Article 23

    Scientific Council

    Advises the Board and the General Assembly on scientific, editorial, training and recognition policies.

    Members appointed by the Board for three-year terms, and former Board members as life members.

    Membership as published on the previous website. The membership under the 2026 Bylaws will be published by the Board.

  6. Bylaws, Article 27

    Audit Council

    Oversees financial management, independently of the Board.

    Three members and two alternates elected by the General Assembly, for the same term as the Board.

  7. Bylaws, Article 29

    Ethics and Member Conduct Committee

    Investigates and rules, at first instance, on member conduct contrary to the Bylaws, the Internal Regulations or the Society's ethical principles.

    Three members and two alternates appointed by the Board from among the members.
