About
The Brazilian Society of Information Design (SBDI) was founded in October 2002 in Recife as a national, non-profit civil society of a scientific nature.
SBDI brings together researchers, lecturers and design professionals who work with analogue and digital information and communication systems, with the management and production of information, and with the acquisition and management of visual information. Its institutional mission is to contribute to the scientific and technological development of Information Design in Brazil. Its objectives include disseminating research, teaching and practice in the field; promoting and facilitating cooperation among professionals, lecturers and researchers working in Information Design; and stimulating the community's interest in visual culture and information.
SBDI's members are founding, full, honorary and student members, and the Society is governed by a Board and a Scientific Council made up of researchers and lecturers. Its main scientific activities are two biennial events: CIDI, the Information Design International Conference, and CONGIC, the National Conference of Undergraduate Research in Information Design.
SBDI also publishes the online journal InfoDesign, a pioneer on the subject in the Americas, and the book of selected papers from its biennial international conferences (Selected Readings of the Information Design International Conferences).
