Introduction

For this edition, the Brazilian Society of Information Design - SBDI together with the Federal University of Paraná - UFPR organized the 10th International Congress of Information Design - CIDI 2021 and the 10th Information Design Student Conference - CONGIC 2021. The concept for this edition is "Connections", due to the pandemic it will be held virtually, and will take place between the 18th and 22nd of October 2021.

These scientific and biennial events aim to discuss and reflect on Brazilian and international information design. They will address the following tracks in information design:

  • Communication
  • Education
  • Health (special focus for this edition)
  • Society
  • Tecnology
  • Theory and History

Each edition of the Congress has conferences attended by professionals / researchers who have relevant contributions in the area of Design.

Tracks

The submission must follow one of six tracks related to Information design. It is worth mentioning that papers must feature an original work and highlight a clear information design perspective.

Tecnology

Contributions to the Information Design field that cover the production and use of technology in physical or virtual environments. Studies in digital data visualization, digital game design, animation, transmedia, virtual and augmented reality, user experience, interface design, interface evaluation, and other topics related to this track. Also are welcome management and technological innovation approaches in the scope of Information Design.

Communication

Contributions to the field that highlight aspects and issues related to the efficiency of communication processes, such as: analog and digital wayfinding systems, editorial Design, data visualization, instruction design, graphic analysis, sign systems, cartography, sequential narratives, animation, cinema and other topics related to this track. Aspects of management and innovation of communication processes are welcome in this track, under the scope of Information Design.

Education

Contributions to the field that cover aspects and questions regarding the role of Information Design in education. Including studies on: inclusion of Design in education, teaching of Information Design, teaching/learning methods and approaches from an Information Design perspective, didactic/instructional artifacts, undergraduate and graduate curriculum in Design, and other topics related to this track. Aspects of management and innovation in education are welcome in this track, under the scope of Information Design.

Society

Contributions to the field that cover critical, ethical, and social discussions of Information Design, in approaches like: vernacular Design, craft production, participatory Design, accessibility, Design policies, advocacy for Design, gender studies, anthropology in Design. Other fields and themes that investigate Information Design and society also fit this track.

Theory and History

Contributions to the field that cover theoretical and historical approaches and contributions to Information Design. Theories, philosophy, and semiotics applied to Information Design, research on taxonomies, models, methods, pioneers and beginnings of Information Design, graphic memory heritage and historical rescues fit into this track.

Health (Special Call)

For this CIDI+CONGIC edition, studies focus on health and social well-being should be aggregated in this transversal track. In this way, are welcome studies related to the other tracks, applied directly in health and social well-being topics.
