She holds a Doctor degree in Communication from The Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 2003, a Master degree in Design from PUC-Rio in 1998 and a postgraduate degree in Linguistics from The Federal University of Pernambuco, 1987. She has also done a Postgraduate course in Typography at The University of Reading from 1983 to 1986. Nowadays, Edna is a lecturer and researcher at The Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, and an advisor for The National Institute of Studies and Educational Research, Brazil. She researches on Brazilian history of graphic design and conducts studies sponsored by the Brazilian agencies CNPq, Facepe and Jucepe. She has several publications in specialized journals and conferences proceedings, having participated of a number of national and international design conferences. She has also written four books and chapters published by recognized Brazilian publishing houses. Edna is an active practitioner in the design field, with special interest in graphic design. During her career, she has interacted with 18 co-authors in scientific works on technological, artistic and cultural production in design.

Professor Heiner Jacob

Prof. Heiner Jacob, born in 1943, studied visual communication at the Hochschule für Gestaltung Ulm (Ulm School of Design) and urban planning at the Rutgers University, New Jersey, USA. After his collaboration with Otl Aicher for the graphic visual appearance for the olympic games 1972, he operated on equal terms in teaching and design practise: Corporate Idenity projects at Wolff Olins, London and Sedley Place Design, Berlin. Teaching activities in communication design at design schools in Great Britain, Canada and Germany. Since 1991 he is a professor for Corporate Identity at the Köln International School of Design.

Dr. Francisco Inácio Scaramelli Homem de Melo

He holds a BA (1979), a Master degree (1986) and a Doctor degree in Architecture and Urbanism (1994) from The University of São Paulo. Presently, Francisco Homem de Melo is a professor of The University of São Paulo and the director of The Homem de Melo Troia Design. He has a notorious professional experience in the communication field, with emphasis on visual communication. He is also actively engaged in researches on photography, typography and cities themes, publishing several articles and books on graphic design.

Dra. Mônica Moura
The Anhembi Morumbi University | Brazil
She holds a Doctor and Master degrees in Communication and Semiotics from PUC University São Paulo, along with two graduate degrees in Plastic arts from Belas Artes School of São Paulo. Mônica is a visual artist and a design educator. She is the head of the Centre of Research in Design of the Anhembi Morumbi University, where she is also a lecturer of The Postgraduate Programme in Hypermedia Design, chair of the Council of Design Courses and director of the Morumbi University Campus. Mônica also teaches as an invited professor of The University of Salvador, Brazil.

Prof. Norberto Chaves

He is a partner of The I+C Consultants (Barcelona-Buenos Aires), expert in corporative image, and an advisor for companies and institutions on strategic planning and identity, as well as on communication programs. Norberto Chaves is former chair of the Pedagogic Department, and professor of Design Theory, Semiology and Communication Theory at The College of Architecture and Urbanism of The University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was a regular lecturer of The EINA School (Barcelona, Spain) from 1977 to 1984. Nowadays, he is an invited professor in design of universities and schools in Spain and Latin America, where he also give seminars on company management in design, image and communication. He is the author of several distinguished publications, such as “La Imagen Corporativa” and "El oficio de diseñar" (Barcelona: Gustavo Gili), and co-author of "Llibre Blanc del Disseny Gràfic a Catalunya" (Barcelona: Generalitat de Catalunya); "La Gestión del Diseño" (Madrid: IMPI); "Diseño y Comunicación" (Buenos Aires: Paidos); and "La Marca Corporativa" (Buenos Aires: Paidos). He is the creator and editor of FOROALFA, along with Raúl Belluccia, Rubén Cherny e Luciano Cassisi.

Dr. Robert Jacobson

Robert Jacobson obtained his Ph.D. in planning from The University of California in Los Angeles, and was a researcher at the Fulbright at the Media Studies at the Roskilde Universitetscenter in Denmark. He holds two master’s degrees from the Annenberg School of Communications at the University of Southern California, and from the Department of Motion Pictures/Television at UCLA, where he also concluded his graduation studies. He is a senior consultant of the SRI Consulting in Menlo Park, CA, founder, president and CEO of Worldesign Inc. He is also co-founder and ex-associated-director of the Human Interface Technology Laboratory at The Washington Technology Center in Seattle, and former general consultant and director of The Utilities and Commerce Committee of The California State Assembly. Previously, he also acted as senior consultant at The Assembly Office Research. Being a specialist in virtual reality, Dr Jacobson conducted several researches, published many books, game innumerous speeches and taught several subjects on the theme. He also had a Q&A column at the VR World.
